Scleral Lens Education Society: Basics of Scleral Lens Fitting It’s As Easy As 1-2-3

Course Description

This two and a half hour presentation is an interactive, workshop format where basic principles of large diameter, rigid, scleral contact lenses are discussed.  A didactic portion is followed by hands-on practice with insertion, removal, and fitting of scleral lenses. Instructors who are Fellows of the Scleral Lens Education Society will provide hands on fitting experience using scleral lenses from several different lens companies.

Course Learning Objectives

To provide participants with knowledge and training of scleral contact lens fitting and management of a wide range of medical conditions. Fitting guidelines and problem solving tips can be applied to the practice of participants. Even practitioners who have never fit a scleral lens should feel comfortable starting a scleral lens practice after the workshop.

"Scleral Lenses: Basic Fitting to Advanced Problem-Solving" with optional product-specific scleral lens workshop
COPE#51896-CL
Event ID#112770

Join the Scleral Lens Education Society for a 2-hour COPE approved course, to include a comprehensive discussion of fitting and evaluation of scleral contact lenses. The course will include patient selection, pre-fitting diagnostic evaluation of the patient, specialized testing, initial diagnostic lens selection a

nd evaluation, lens ordering, follow-up care, modification of the fit, problem-solving, specific care and handling of lenses and in-office management tips.

Immediately following the CE lecture, attendees have the option of attending a product-specific non-CE scleral lens workshop hosted by ABB OPTICAL GROUP. The ICD FlexFit workshop will provide practitioners with a comprehensive understanding and confidence to introduce scleral lenses into their practice. The course will cover candidacy, diagnostic lens selection, initial evaluation, post settling analysis, custom lens construction and trouble shooting. Practitioners will learn to fit both the normal eye as well as the most challenging of shapes or conditions. Additionally, the advanced options available will be reviewed when extreme cases present themselves. Lastly, practitioners will have a "hands on" chance to evaluate fits through group instruction as well as an opportunity to apply, evaluate and remove lenses on themselves or colleagues. This course is designed for both new and experienced scleral practitioners alike so each attendee will walk away ready for scleral lens practice with the ICD FlexFit system. Lunch will be provided only to those attending the workshop.
